I am a Slovak-born visual artist based in Stockholm, primarily dealing with the theme of space analysis, attempting to unfold its layers in various ways, to transcend the limits to unexpected visions. Although, being educated and specialised in extensive printmaking, it’s crucial for me to experiment with various medium based directions, such as site-specific installation, sculpture, light and sound, and diverse intersections among them. I intend to explore the context of installation-observer relation.
My recent practice focuses on landscape and urban landscape, its changing and development, with particular fascination with underground and protective-like spaces. My aim is to explore the intricate relationship between the human body and the spaces it inhabits, focusing especially on environments that impose physical limitations. I strive to open a dialogue on what it means to exist in spaces that are both protective and oppressive, simultaneously serving as sanctuaries and constraints.
My work often takes the form of large-scale site-specific installations using unconventional materials and unique printing methods to trace transformation and temporality in materials, using layering, pressure, and exposure to reveal hidden tensions. Recent projects have examined the interplay between visibility and invisibility, matter and energy, as well as the dynamics of light and perception. My installations frequently invite the viewer to navigate and experience space as both physical and psychological phenomenon, emphasizing observation, reflection, and presence.
Rather than focusing solely on observable spaces, their scales, and volumes, my artworks highlight the in-between spaces—between buildings, bodies, and structures—where the urban environment is a meeting point of diverse unseen forces. The energy of the city is like a ghostly pulsation that lingers in the place, waiting to be witnessed. The inner dynamism – creation and destruction, disappearance, appearance, transformation – fascinates and inspires me both formally and conceptually.
My practice is based on the balance between combination of blackness with large scale, and two-dimensionality with spatiality. Through the interplay of material, form, and light, my goal is to create a threshold between reality and fiction, where there is neither a beginning nor an end—only this fragile but extremely harmonious space, and us.
